My heart & soul is crushed and I really feel for everyone affected by Sandy.
Many have lost loved ones. May God Bless You and give you peace during this extremely difficult time.
Being without power or anything else minor is an inconvenience. Material goods, cars, even a home can be replaced.
We are all connected, and helping hands are on the way.
It is, however, our responsibility to hold out until then. The first and best way to have you and your family’s needs covered.
Watching people dumpster-diving after only 3 days is heart-wrenching.
This is 100% preventable.
A bag of canned food and a mechanical can-opener (or a spoon) is all it takes to cover 3 days.
Everybody knew this storm was coming a week ahead. It’s not like it appeared out of nowhere, like the tsunami in Japan last year, with only 30 minutes of warning.
Why then, for the love of God, not prepare? 3 days worth of water and food will get you through the worst of it, and 7-8 days’ worth will cover most any hurricane/natural disaster situation. It takes so little, and makes so much of a difference. What does a wife or kid think of a dad who puts them into a situation like this? I’m just lost for words. Horrible as it is, it could have been much worse. Please, prepare.
Preparation always pays off. After the disaster it’s too late to prepare. The time to choose is past by then, and prepared or not, you have to live with the consequences of your decisions.
