My old, pre-March 2011 disaster preparedness kits contained mostly – don’t laugh – chocolate and crackers.
My reasoning went something like this.
They have a long shelf life, and are nutritious, so they must be good.
Similarly, there are many other products which ordinary logic tells you should work, but in reality they don’t.
Knowing what to include is just half of the story. Knowing what NOT to rely too much on is equally important. Lulling yourself into a false sense of preparedness could be dangerous.
